Last updated: 19 September 2026. Bebiwo respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 (Uganda).
• Account data: phone number, @username, password (hashed), email if you provide one, date of birth, gender, city/country, profile text, interests and photos/videos you upload.
• Verification data: OTP codes sent to your phone (never shared), and — if you choose to get verified — a selfie used to match against your profile photos. Verification selfies are stored securely, never published, and deleted when no longer needed.
• Location: approximate location (city/coordinates) you provide or that we derive for matching. You can change it anytime.
• Usage data: device type, IP address, app interactions and log data used for security, abuse prevention and improving the Service.
• Payment data: transactions are processed by our payment partners (e.g. Pesapal, MTN/Airtel). We store transaction references and amounts — never your mobile-money PIN or card CVV.
To run your account and matching, deliver chats, calls and notifications, process wallet top-ups and creator payouts, verify accounts, keep the platform safe (scam and fraud detection), and comply with Ugandan law.
We process your data to perform our contract with you, with your consent (e.g. photo verification), for our legitimate interests in safety and security, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data. We share only with: service providers (hosting, SMS/WhatsApp delivery, payment processing, content-moderation tools) under contract; mobile-money operators as needed to complete your transactions; and authorities where the law requires (e.g. child-safety reports).
Data is stored on secured servers with encryption in transit and access controls. No system is 100% secure — never share passwords or OTP codes with anyone, including people claiming to be Bebiwo staff.
Under Ugandan law you can request access, correction, or deletion of your data, and object to certain processing. Use privacy@bebiwo.com. You can also download your data or delete your account in Settings.
We keep your data while your account is active. After deletion, personal data is removed or anonymised within 90 days, except records we must keep for legal, safety or financial-audit reasons (e.g. transaction records as required for tax and AML).

Bebiwo is strictly for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; such accounts are deleted and reported where required.
